Five new things

January 24, 2016

I've been a lot more restrained with my make-up purchases over the past few months, but i've still managed to treat myself to the occasional thing...

As much as I love my Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof mascara, I've been on the hunt for something a little more affordable and easy to get hold of. I'd heard nothing but good things about Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara and priced at only £7.99 it seemed the perfect candidate. When I first started using this I think I went in a bit heavy handed, leaving me with not so appealing thick and clumpy lashes that smudged onto my brow bone throughout the day. However, after a little bit of persistence I've found that with a light hand and not too much product on the brush, it does create beautiful lashes that look thick and long and come quite close to resembling fake lashes. The more it dries out the more I seem to like it - I think I was just a bit too much of an eager beaver to begin with!

As I'd also recently ran out of my Revlon ColourStay Liquid eyeliner I decided to try something different. Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner has quickly become my new favourite. The thin tip makes it easy to create more of a precise line for a natural look or you can easily build it up for a more intense line and flick. It's the lasting power though that really has me hooked - it definitely lives up to its name!

The L'Occitane Cherry Blossom hand cream is an old favourite that I couldn't resist repurchasing. The scent is so fresh and lingers on your hands for ages. It's also a beautifully rich cream that sinks into your hands without leaving that annoying 'can't touch anything for ages' sticky residue.

Kiko's Water Eyeshadow in colour 200 is perhaps one of the most gorgeous champagne metallic shimmers I think i've ever seen, so I was over the moon when they finally had it in stock. It looks amazing used either across the whole lid or as more of a highlight. The water eyeshadows can also be used wet for a more intense and metallic colour but I haven't given this a go yet as it looks so pretty when used dry. Considering there's so much shimmer in it, I haven't experienced a problem with fallout and find with a little bit of primer underneath, it stays in place throughout the day.

And of course, my Essie obsession is still going strong so it was about time I picked up another pale/pastel/neutral shade...right?! This one is called Spin The Bottle and i've pretty much worn it every day for the past month. It's the most versatile pinky beige colour that just goes with everything.

Have you added anything new to your beauty stash recently?

    1. It would be the perfect shade for spring - though i'm guilty to indulging in the pastel polishes all year round! x

  2. Spin the bottle is definitely one of my all-time favourite nail polish shades, and the Maybelline mascara is amazing. Also, try the KIKO water eyeshadow wet, ever since I tried it with a bit of MAC Fix+, I haven't used it dry. It looks even more stunning that way :)

  3. Oh these are some lovely addition! I LOVE the L'Occitane Cherry Blossom hand cream - I just finished up a few of the mini tubes, and once I use up the hand creams I have I'll probably purchase the larger size of this! I recently picked up Tarte Exposed and it is just the most beautiful pink-brown blush! You picked up a great round of products :)

  4. The Kiko eyeshadow looks so incredibly beautiful, as does the Essie polish. I can't wait for Spring to get here so I can pull out my lighter shades.
