The Five Minute Face
August 22, 2015
When it comes to mornings, as much as I like the idea of making the most of the early hours, my body unfortunately just isn't a fan. Despite the best intentions the night before, you can safely bet that come morning I'm making friends with the snooze button rather than my toothbrush. In an attempt to claw back some of my lost time dozing, I've pretty much mastered the art of the five minute face...
For a quick and effortless base, L'Oreal's True Match Foundation is perfect. It's quite similar to my all time favourite, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, but I find it a little lighter in texture and easier to blend - especially when you're in a rush! It also stays put throughout the day, even when things get a bit sweaty. I'm currently using a darker shade than usual as I have the slightest hint of a tan after a few days away in Majorca but once I'm back to being ghostly pale I'll definitely be picking up a lighter shade. I'm not sure if it beats Luminous Silk but it's pretty close (and a lot cheaper too!). With my skin tone evened out, to make myself look a little bit more awake, a few dabs of Collection's Illuminating Touch concealer under my eyes brightens up any dark under eye circles.
Soap and Glory's Brow Archery is perfect for when speed is essential as it conveniently houses a spoolie on one side to brush them into shape and a waxy pencil on the other fill in any sparse patches. No matter how late I'm running I always find time for mascara! I'm currently a huuuuuge fan of the Fairydrops mascara as it creates long and voluminous lashes that don't smudge or flake at all. I've tried both the water resistant and waterproof versions and i love them both but I think the waterproof one (pictured) is perhaps my favourite.
To add a quick hint of colour to my cheeks I've been using Clinique's Cheek Pops in the new shade Melon Pop. This is one of my favourite blushes as not only does it look beautiful in the pan but it is so easy to apply and blend that it literally only takes seconds. The slight lace of shimmer running through it also acts as a subtle highlighter to brighten your complexion without looking unnatural. I also have the shade Peach Pop from when they originally released the blushes last year and it's safe to say that these two have now become the most used blushes in my collection.
Before running out of the door (usually quite literally), I've been reaching for Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in the shade coral for the slightest hint of colour but mainly due to the fact that it also moisturises my forever dry lips. I'm not a huge lipstick fan but when it comes to tinted lip balm I just can't get enough! This is perhaps my favourite one ever - I'm surprised I haven't picked up anymore shades yet!
With only five minutes on the clock, just a handful of products make the cut but it's
enough to make me feel and look a little more presentable. So until I finally learn to get out of bed when the alarm rings, I guess I'll just have to save the fancy eyeshadow for the weekend!

I wish I could spend 5 minutes on my makeup, I think my foundation alone takes me more than 5 haha! I've learnt to get myself out of bed on a morning though, unless I don't have to be anywhere, you won't catch me up before 10 ;)

Haha, if I wasn't in such a rush all the time I could easily spend aaages on it! x
DeleteI am getting better at scaling down my makeup time, but 5 minutes would still just be the time I faff trying to find my brushes!

Thank you - quick and easy is pretty much all I can master in the morning sometimes! x
DeleteFive minutes is very impressive! I'm getting quicker at doing my makeup in the mornings before work but it will be a long time before I manage to cut it down to 5 minutes! Lovely products though! I'm such a fan of S&G brow archery!
