A Few Luxuries
June 08, 2015
When it comes to makeup, I don't like to judge a product by its price tag. However, there are times when the purse weepingly expensive items becomes some of your most treasured. There is something about luxury packaging that excites the makeup collector in me a little bit too much! Pair that with an equally dreamy product that delivers all you could wish for and you'll find me handing over my credit card faster than it takes me to scoff down a few cupcakes.
Burberry's sheer eyeshadow in Pale Barley is one of those items i've wanted for what seems like forever. When I was last in London and finally found it in stock, it was like Christmas come early. Everything from the packaging, to the colour, to the texture is beautiful. It's the perfect neutral shade to quickly blend over your lid and into the crease for a bit of definition and shimmer. I've also recently found that the Boots in Meadowhall have just acquired a shiny new Burberry counter so things could get dangerous....(Boots points, Boots points, Boots points!)
Speaking of Boots points, I used my savings to buy Chanel's Les Beiges in N10. When it comes to powder that looks nothing like powder when applied, Les Beiges has got it covered. Gone are the days of a 'cakey' face - a light dusting of this induces a healthy glow without the shine. Having such pale skin, I often find that even the lightest shade of Chanel face products are too dark *weep* but as this is such a sheer powder it matches perfectly without any sign of an orange tinge. And I have to admit, there is something quite exciting about taking the gorgeous compact out of your bag for a little touch up on the go. If you've got the will power to save up enough Boots points for this, it's definitely a great way to spend them!
When it comes to lipstick, I probably spend a lot more time swooning over it than I do wearing it. I'll apply lip balm throughout the day but despite by best attempts, I either forget or can't be bothered to reapply lipstick. For this reason i've narrowed down my collection to a handful of lipsticks that I love and would repurchase over and over again. Tom Ford's Pink Dusk is one of those that I just can't get enough of. It's a slightly pinker 'my lips but better shade' that I can just about apply without a mirror. The texture is smooth and creamy and quite hydrating on the lips. Again the packaging wins me over as not only does it look dreamy but the satisfying click when the lid closes encourages me to reapply this more than any of the other lipsticks in my collection.
Jo Malone is a brand I've loved for years but after receiving this miniature Pomegranate Noir bath oil as a spontaneous gift from Richard (he's a good egg), I've fallen in love with the scent. A few drops of this in a running bath not only fills up the rooms with the beautiful aroma but you can smell it throughout the whole apartment too! I've since accumulated (thanks to my recent birthday) the perfume and candle and I think I may have finally found my signature scent.

Great post about some beautiful products! I'm currently undergoing the intense task of using up parts of my collection to make it into a more curated collection of truly beautiful and effective products that I love. It's quite an undertaking but I think the end result will be worth it!
