The Sick Day Essentials

February 20, 2014

Paracetamol, tissues, vapor rub and an endless supply of orange juice are the usual bedside culprits for when your feeling a bit under the weather. After being confined to bed with flu for the majority of last week, i'm rather familiar with all these, however, there are a few other products that I quickly became dependent upon to ensure I felt less like a zombie, and a little bit more like a human.

First on the list was the Aromatherapy Associates Bath Oil in Support Breath (I have the little one from one of the Christmas sets but larger sizes are available). A few drops of this in bath water really helped to clear the senses when combined with the steam. Its so strong I could even smell it through my blocked nose!

I find that when i'm ill, my skin becomes much drier than usual, so I like to make sure I keep it hydrated. For my face, Origins Make A Difference Plus Rejuvenation Treatment kept any flaky patches and redness under control, especially around my nose. Ideally, I could have benefited from something a little bit richer but since I was in no state to leave the house, I settled for this. To be honest it pretty much did the job and didn't irritate any of the tender skin around my nose either. A few spritzes of the Evian facial spray also helped to refresh and hydrate my skin whilst Nuxe's Reve de Miel lip balm ensured my lips were kept in perfect condition. For some reason, my hands also tend to feel quite dry when i'm cooped up in bed so having a hand cream in reach is essential. The Laura Mercier Creme Brulee hand cream moisturises without feeling greasy, and it also smells good enough to eat.

I find that little things like this (as well as a stack of magazines and multiple One Tree Hill box sets) really help to make being ill a whole lot more bearable. Do you have an essential items for when your feeling under the weather?

  1. The bath oil sounds lovely, I really like strong scented products (like herbal scents) when I'm feeling ill! And the evian facial mist sounds nice as well, I never knew they did something like that. Bet it's so handy when your skin is feeling dehydrated! (ps, your photos are so nice!) x

  6. urgh I hate being sick but that aromatherapy associates bath oil is a definite must for me, I had a sample sized bottle like yours, used it when I felt all stuffy and it really helped to clear my head.

My sick day essentials have to be a big duvet & Heinz tomato soup :)
