Date Night

February 13, 2014

As it's Valentines Day tomorrow, I thought it would be appropriate to label this post 'Date Night', though really, this is the makeup I reach for on any occasion that I simply want to look my best. As this look combines all of my favourite products at the moment, it is the one I reach for most days, and consequently, is one I've mastered down to a fine art. Ten minutes you say? No problem.

For the closest thing to a flawless base, I start by buffing one pumps worth of Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation into my skin (full rave here), before patting in some of the Collection 2000 illuminating touch concealer under my eyes to hide any dark circles. To set everything in place I then dust on some of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light with a large kabuki. This eliminates shine without looking at all heavy or dull on the skin, but actually adds a gorgeous subtle glow.

Moving onto eyes, I start by using the Mac eyebrow pencil in Spiked to fill in any sparse areas and define my brows. Before applying eyeshadow, I always reach for my Nars pro-prime smudge proof eyeshadow base (not pictured because somebody forgot *points to self*) to ensure my shadow lasts longer and appears more vibrant. At the moment i'm in love with the Nars And God Created the Woman palette so I've been using this most days. If i'm going out anywhere like a date or even just a meal with friends, I start by using one of the top three colours over my entire lid, then buff one of the darker shades into my crease and outer corner of my eye. If I want some extra definition, I then use the darkest shadow to line my upper lash line. Last for the eyes, a few layers of YSL's Effect Faux Cils Shocking mascara in black ensures my lashes are looking long, curled and voluminous.

To finish the look, I then sweep a light dusting of Laura Mercier's Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lotus Pink over my cheeks for a healthy flush. Finally, a swipe of Clarins Instant Light lip Natural Perfecter in 02 Apricot shimmer adds a hint of non-sticky gloss and colour that keeps my lips hydrated.

I'd love to say that this is the look I'll be sporting tomorrow night, though unfortunately i'm confined to bed with flu. Looks like a night of rom-coms and a box of chocolate for one. Have you got any plans for Valentines?
