♡ Best of the Body Butters

November 25, 2013

At this time of year I really rely on rich body butters to combat the effect that the harsh elements have on my skin. With the constant transition between the freezing cold outside and the warm central heating indoors, my skin easily becomes dehydrated and itchy. Despite the central heating chugging away, the bathroom at this time of year isn't the warmest of places, so my selection of body butters has been narrowed down to just those that work quickly, last all day and smell pretty darn good too (after all, 'tis not the season to be sitting around waiting for your moisturiser to sink in).

With an extremely rich formula and amazing smell, Creme de Corps is quite possibly the most indulgent body butter to grace my skin...ever. (One could describe it as the creme of the crop...) The Shea and Jojoba oils ensure my skin is left soft and nourished throughout the day, whilst the fresh coconut scent lingers on my skin for hours. At £36 a tub it's a pretty pricey investment, though it makes a great treat for when you feel in need of a bit of pampering or want to treat someone special this Christmas.

Currently my 'go-to' butter of choice, this stuff is perfect for dry skin. The thick consistency feels rich and luxurious to use and keeps skin hydrated throughout the day (though i'm not sure if it would last a full 24 hours). Despite the thickness of the cream it easily melts straight into the skin and isn't at all greasy so it's great if your in a bit of a rush to get dressed. I'm also a huge fan of the coconut scent, it reminds me a lot of Kiehl's Creme De Corps, and I love how the smell tends to linger on your skin. If your not such a huge fan of coconut, one of the best things about The Body Shop's Body Butter is that they're available in a wide variety of scents so there's something to suit every taste -I've currently got my eye on the limited edition Christmas scents. For £13 a tub, they're not the cheapest out there but I think that their Rich and luxurious texture make them a rather affordable high end alternative and at this time of year, they would also make a great stocking filler.

Dove Purely Pampering Body Cream
At only £4.99 (and currently half price at just £2.49), Dove's body butter delivers an impressive kick of hydration considering the price. It's undeniably lacking in indulgence compared to the previous two butters and the consistency isn't quite as rich, though it still leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. I'm a huge fan of the subtle vanilla scent, and for less than £5 a tub, I don't feel at all guilty smothering the stuff on.

What's your dry skin saviour?

  10. The Khiels butter sounds amazing but I agree it is a little pricey. My favourite fix is Body Shop's cocoa butter or the Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory! If you haven't smelt Body Shop's Chocolate butter I'd definitely recommend you give it a try!

  12. I have heard such great things about the Kiehl's lotion, I do want to try that one out. For now it's my trusty old neutragena lotion getting me through this dry weather.
