My cousin is getting married at Easter so I've been in a bit of a last minute rush to perfect my outfit. I'm wearing my favorite dress which I've actually had for a couple of years as i really couldn't find anything i liked half as much (and as all my cousins, uncles and aunts live in Scotland, and i live in northern England, no one at the wedding has seen me in the dress before, so it was a bit of a 'no-brainer' really!).

As the dress is sorted, its just been the accessories that I've been shopping for. My favorite thing about weddings is the opportunity to dress up and wear really pretty things, so I've been making sure I incorporate lots of sparkle into my outfit. I'm not much of a high heels fan (five minutes and I'm virtually reduced to tears) so I've also ordered some flats from Zara to change into after the ceremony (i doubt i'll make it any longer than that!). They should arrive in the next couple of days so I'm really excited to try everything together.

Is anyone else going to a Wedding this Spring or Summer?

♡ Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint - Lychee

March 19, 2013

These new nail paints by Barry M are getting a lot of attention in the blogging world, so of course I had to give them a go. Being a dedicated lover of neutral and nude nails, the shade Lychee definitely stood out to me most compared to the more bright and colourful shades in the Gelly range.

Lychee is a gorgeous pale nude colour that looks great on paler skin tones. I was excited to see what the 'Gelly' texture of the polish would be like and I certainly wasn't disappointed. After applying a base coa,t only two coats of this is needed for an opaque finish. I really like the finish of this polish, it's really shiny so a top coat isn't really necessary, making them perfect for days when your in a bit of a rush. The wear time wasn't anything special, around 2-3 days on me, though for only £3.99 a bottle these are amazing value, and I would say the quality exceeds it's price point. It will definitely be a 'go to' nail polish for me.

♡ Mac Vintage Selection Pro Longwear Paint Pot

March 12, 2013

I'm such a huge fan of cream eye shadows, so when i realised that mac had launched some new paint pots i simply couldn't resist!
Vintage Selection is actually a re-promote, though this time mac have launched it as a Pro Longwear formula. Despite a lot of skepticism around whether this new formula is actually different from your plain old paint pot, I've found that this particular shade lasts all day on me without fading or creasing.

One of my favorite things about cream eye shadows is how easy they can be to apply, which is perfect for people like me who always seem to be in a rush in the morning (I'm blaming the 'snooze' button on my alarm). The consistency of Vintage Selection is definitely one of the best I've tried. It applies effortlessly and blends easily. It also looks beautiful either on its own or paired with other shadows.

Since bringing this little pot home with me last week, I've been wearing it none stop. It's the perfect pale brown colour with a touch of subtle shimmer that looks amazing in direct light.

The Pro Longwear paint pots are currently available from Mac, retailing at £14.50 (quite good value considering how long they last).

♡ Review: Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara

March 06, 2013

Despite mentioning this in my February Favorites, I couldn't resist giving this mascara a little post of its own. I think it's safe to say that i'm pretty fond of this mascara. I've been using it everyday since the end of January and continue to be amazed by how beautiful it makes my lashes.

With two coats of this I find my lashes are both lengthened, thickened and separated to the extent that they almost look 'fake' (in a good way!). As the brush is quite skinny and has small bristles even on the tip, it makes precise application easy. I'm able to apply mascara to the finer lashes in the corners of my eye which really enhances the overall 'fullness' of their appearance.

The only downside to this mascara is that I've found it does have a tendency to smudge slightly throughout the day. If you don't mind a couple of touch ups, (mainly checking you don't have splodges of black smeared across your brow bone), then i'm sure this wouldn't be much of an issue. Wiping away any excess mascara at the ends of your lashes with a cotton bud after application also helps to reduce the amount of smudging.

Benefit's They're Real mascara retails for £18.50 in the UK, which although is on the expensive side, isn't as extortionate as some higher end mascaras.

♡ February Favorites

March 01, 2013

1. Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette
I've really fallen in love with this little palette. The subtle matte shades are perfect for daytime and so quick and easy to use in the morning, especially since everything you need is conveniently in one place. Full review here.

2. Essie Nail Polish in Fiji
I've been wearing this almost everyday this month. It's the perfect pale pink shade that just looks so clean and fresh. I think it's safe to say i'm addicted!

3. Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs
Since we've been creeping towards spring this month I've fallen back in love with this perfume. It reminds me so much of spring and summer and the packaging is absolutely gorgeous. Though it's been collecting dust all winter it definitely hasn't stopped being one of my all time favorite scents.

4. L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Hand Cream
This has been my savoir throughout February. Most likely due to the cold weather and heating  my hands have been a lot dryer than usual this month, though a blob of this sorts them out straight away without leaving them at all greasy. The scent is also divine, so much so it leaves me wanting to sniff my hands!!

5. Benefit They're Real Mascara
From the very first swipe of this mascara I've been in love with how long and thick it leaves my lashes. They really do look more like false lashes with this on, it's simply amazing stuff. I'l probably do a full review soon as i think this mascara really deserves it's own post!

6. Diptyque Mimosa Candle
There are no words to describe how amazing this smells. I love everything about it, apart from the price...

As much as February has been a good month I'm really excited about March as I have so many exciting things to look forward to. Easter in particular is creeping up quickly and I can't wait!
