The Bioderma Alternative - Eucerin Micellar Cleansing Fluid

July 29, 2014

Since the whole Bioderma epidemic calmed down, there has been copious amounts of brands creating their own version of a Micellar Cleansing Fluid. As much as I love the original, I'm a bit of a floozy and just can't resist the temptation of trying (and buying!) something new. I've tried a few other brands in the past, but none have left much of a lasting impression. However, after testing out Eucerin's Micellar Cleansing Fluid* over the past few weeks, I think i've finally found one that rivals Bioderma.

Just like the French offering, the Eucerin fluid* is colourless and odourless, making it perfect for dry and sensitive skin. As a multi-use product, it cleanses, tones and removes eye make-up, though I tend to use it as just the first step in my skincare routine. A few blobs of this on a cotton pad gently removes the majority of my make-up before using my Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel to really get things squeaky clean (more on that later!). As the Eucerin fluid* is so gentle, it does struggle to remove eye make-up, but this hasn't really bothered me as I use the Clarins Instant Eye Make-up Remover beforehand which is pretty much guaranteed to prevent any sign of panda eyes. However, if you're looking for a quick 'one product does all', you might find this a bit of a problem. I think Bioderma does remove eye-makeup a bit better than this stuff, but I also find that it dries out my skin more than Eucerin... You win some, you loose some

I was lucky enough to be sent the Eucerin Micellar Cleansing fluid* for consideration but i'll happy buy a replacement once I've squeezed out the last drops. It's great as a quick way to remove base make-up or as the first step in a more thorough cleansing routine.

What are your favourite micellar solutions?

  2. My favourite is the Garnier Micellar water - I swear by it! It definitely removes eye makeup, you just need to leave the cotton pad over your eye for around 10 seconds so it can break down the product. I don't find the Garnier one drying at all, so maybe you could try that next? This does sound really good though, I just don't think it's available where I live!

  3. I have dry skin, so I'd much prefer to have to scrub my eyes a bit more than dry out my already dehydrated skin...this is on my shopping list! x
